Patellar Tendon Bearing (PTB) AFO
The PTB AFO can be used to reduce the weight carried by bones of the distal leg and rearfoot. Through compression of the patellar tendon and calf muscle, weight is translated from the proximal leg through the shell of the device and to the ground, bypassing the distal leg. Due to clamshell closure of this design, donning may be difficult. This device is comprised of a rigid polypropylene homopolymer shell with a 35 durometer EVA lining and 25 durometer EVA malleoli and medial arch padding. 35 durometer EVA footplate padding can be added for increased comfort.
